For the last five years, I have had panic attacks while flying on airplanes. I have needed to take prescription medicine, a cocktail and nausea medicine to try and overcome it. All that and I would still have an attack, it just delayed it further in to the flight. It was embarrassing and frustrating. I am not afraid of flying. I am however claustrophobic and a secret control freak. The fact I cannot get up and move when I need to freaks me out and I can't take it. I have also learned that I take on others peoples stress, anger and anxiety.

This past March I flew with my two brothers and my little brothers girlfriend and it was the first time in five years I did not have an attack. I did however have my regime. I assumed that it. finally worked. Then this past week I flew with my best friend and on the way home, I forgot the regime and did not take my anxiety medicine. For the first time in five years, I did not need medicine or anything else to get me through a flight. I cannot express how amazing it felt. I felt accomplished. I felt successful.

I attribute this success to my own self growth over this past year. I have really made it a point to distance myself from toxic people. Sometimes we don't even realize how negative our surroundings are until we stop and take a deeper look.

I also had to dive deep into looking at what I really wanted out of life. What makes me happy. This is a task I am still working on. Self discovery is a long journey for me so far. I was so stuck in habits that did not serve me so to break them, I am going to need to do a lot of work. So far, I am loving the things I am learning about myself.

If you are feeling unhappy, I encourage you to take a good look around at who you are spending time with and what things you are doing everyday that you wish you weren't. A change needs to happen. Take small steps first. If you hate waking up at 6am, how can you change that? There are other options. They may just need a tweak or maybe you need a major life change. What's the worse that could happen?

We all have them.

We all try to use them to get out of trouble, lying, hurting someone we love. We use them to get out of things we don't want to do even though we know we should.

The thing about excuses is that they will never help us move in the right direction. They will always be what holds us back. They will always be the mistake we make. Whether we are the one giving them or accepting them from others. They will never make us better people.

So why do we use them? give them? come up with them?

Fear is the answer. Fear is what holds us back as humans in so many ways. Over coming fear is one of the most important things we can do as a person. Letting go over fear would have us accomplishing so much more than we do. If you ever look at someone who is rich, famous, business owner, or leader, they all have the same thing in common. It's not that they lack fear, no. They just feel that fear, and DO IT ANYWAY.

That is the only way to over come it.

Sometime we don't know exactly what our fear is. In this case, trying some writing exercises can help. Start by writing in a notebook or journal. This way you can look back on what you write for future reference.

The first prompt I want you to answer is:

Who in your life right now makes the most impact on the decisions you make? Are they holding you back?

What is something you have always wished you have done? Why haven't you done it yet?

Where would you like to see yourself by next year?

Do you engage in at least one self-care activity each day?

As you answer these questions, you will find that your brain will lead you to places you didn't expect. You might find something interesting in your answers. Furthermore, you may start to see the pattern of why you are not achieving the things you want. Is money a factor? Is it someone in your life?

When I was at my peak breaking point of my anxiety, I decided I needed to find a book to help me. I am a reader and so it made sense for me to find my answer with words. I somehow came across this book called "The Five Second Rule" By Mel Robbins.

Her book changed me forever.

Mel does not just tell you her story and give you a tool to use. She backs everything up by science. She not only tells you what to do but also why it works. She calls it "The Five Second Rule". No not the one where you can drop food and eat it as long as you pick it up quickly. It's the one where the moment you decide to do something, you count down and when you get to one, you MUST get up right away and do it. She came up with it one night when she said she thought about a rocket taking off 5-4-3-2-1 BLAST OFF. She explains how science backs up this theory and why it works and man it works. And it's not just for getting up and doing something. It's also for when you mind starts swirling out of control into your anxious thoughts. The moment you realize you are in deep anxious thoughts, you stop, count down five and then think of something else. Something positive perhaps. It really works I swear!

If you don't believe me, check out her book yourself. I highly recommend it. Until then, I will keep working on my book and then you can learn about my journey and what I do to overcome my anxiety everyday.

Stay positive and choose happy!

Hi, I'm Michelle!

I have been on a personal growth journey for quite some time now, but I really made a breakthrough when I decided to share my story and publish my first book in November 2022. I made even more progress in 2024 when I decided to share my secrets with my family and close friends. It hasn't been easy, but it has been enlightening. I have truly never felt more at peace, even though I am still processing everything that happened to me. I have learned so much from my life experiences. I have had many people tell me that I am a great listener and that I give new insight into healing. I want to share my journey and story with you in hopes that I can inspire you to do the inner work you have wanted to do. Nothing is better than having support and understanding on your side, with that said, I am here for you!
